Listen to Grandpa

  I am a native Arizonan , My Godparents were Americans of Mexican dissent. Their family was my family. I say this up front so you can know I have no animosity toward Mexicans. This blog will be about immigration.
  Immigration in this country is broken. We as a country have lost control of the one thing that makes US a country / people, our borders.
In the past we had control of who came in. If you had a skill that was useful, training in a field that was in demand and a wish to be free, to be American . You went to the front of the line. If you had a negative history or had certain illnesses. You could not come in.
  But now tens of thousands of ILLEGAL immigrants pore over the border. The good ,the bad and the ugly, all at once. I will say most fall into the good column , but without control we cant stop the bad and the ugly. So it is of no surprise to me the things like Hooping cough, typhoid and TB are on the rise, this would be the bad. Not much can be done about the bad because bad is just bad. The ugly is the murdering, thieving , thugs that prey on the illegal. That,s right most of the victims of illegal alien crime are illegal aliens. Most of these crime we never hear about. We hear of only the worst of the worst. Most of it goes unreported. This is why I would support a legal worker status for those who wish to work here but do not wish to stay and be Americans. It would bring their work into the light, make it legal and the workers legal so they can be protected.  Alas no legal worker program will work as things now stand. Let me use an analogy .
   A family goes on a trip and comes home to find that a pipe in their home has burst, flooding the house. Now they get into an argument over how to clean up the mess. Dad wants to get out the shop vac and just suck it all up with brute force. Mom wants to use mops and buckets  to get ever last drop. The kids just want to open the doors and windows and let nature take it's course. All three will work. But they are so busy arguing that they don't hear Grandpa saying that the first thing to do is to turn off the water. If you don't, you will never clean up the mess
    If you want a legal worker program. First you have to stop the illegal flow. Then we can talk about how to fix immigration.

The code

   What guides me in my life. what star guides me.  I try to live by the Code of the West .
    I know most think of the wild west . But I mean the western Christian culture . I believe it is also the base of American Culture. That is why it is so prevalent in the wild west stories. The Code of the West is as follows.
1.) Obey the Ten.
2.) Defend the defenseless.
3.) Love your country and care for the land.
4.) Do not start a fight , but always finish one.
5.) Never spit in front of women and children .
   I know you think I am joking , but I am not. I will go through them to show I mean it.
 1.  Obey the Ten 
  First off only a heathen will ask what Ten  . I of course am speaking of the Ten Commandments. It IS the base of our law. So to obey the Ten , is to obey the law. That simple. (so long as it does not conflict with The Ten)
 2. Defend the defenseless.
    What is more American than to stand up for some one who can't. What is more Christ like than that. Our greatest heroes are the ones that gave up comfort and privilege. Homes and family , for others. For their freedom.  
 3. Love your country and care for the land.
    This is one of those Golden rule things. Our Country is our family , friends and neighbors. Not just the Government we live under.To care for the land is to take care of our piece of it. So that when we pass it on it is better than when we got it.
 4. Do not start a fight , but always finish it.
   This to is simple. We don't go looking for a fight. But when one is started it must be finished . Korea is a festering wound because it was never finished.
 5. Never spit in front of women and children
   In some ways , this is the one we are losing the fastest .(from here out I speak as a male) I was raised that Men are to have a level of gentility when in the presence of women. I hear  young males (I will not say men for they are not.) use the most course and vulgar   language . They have few manners, eat and sound like pigs. But it is manners like holding the door, letting some one else go first, tipping your hat and not spitting in front of women. That keep men civil , keep us from devolving. I fear we as a Nation are devolving.
We are losing what it means to be Gentlemen . We are losing what it means to be Americans

                         But don't worry these are just the raving of an American WASP.

 

Bad moon rising

  In the past few years I have been an uneasy feeling about the direction of America's culture. America has always been about the individual.and the liberty that gives us the ability to live our life as We see fit. But more and more we are becoming a nation of you can not do that. You can't eat that, it will make you fat. You can't smoke that, I don't like the smell. You can't practice your faith , I want free abortions.
  And what will happen  if I say no , I am a free man. I will live my life my way. I am told that the Government will make me. I will be forced against my will to tow the party line. Does that sound like America , land of the free.
 Dark times are coming , I see a bad moon rising .
                          But don't worry , these are just the ravings of an American WASP 

Reduced to Clear

        It was July of 1999 . I was making a delivery to a Walgreen s drug store. I had just finished stocking the coolers in the front of the store when I saw there markdown basket .You know , that shopping cart up by the cash register that has a sign , Reduced to clear. As I passed by 3 car flags caught my eye . In truth I had never seen one before. You know the kind you put in your car window. These three US flags must have been left over for the 4th of July. Something bothered Me about seeing Our flag in a markdown basket . So I bought all three.
   As the year went on and the same with the next. I would fly one of these flags on my delivery truck on the holidays . At the time I had to work most holidays . Only once in the following two years after buying the flags did any one ask me about them . He was a WWII vet . He asked where he could find one. In that two years ONLY one person
    September 11, 2001 We all remember that day. I was leaving for work When my neighbor told me one of the Twin Towers  was on fire. So I went back inside and Saw the second plane hit. At that time I knew what was happening . We the US of A where under attack. I was no longer working  for Arrowhead water but I remembered my flags . So I grabbed one before I started my sales route. Before I was done that day , at every stop people asked about my flag and where to find one. Sad it took that day for them to want one.
    Last week I was in Walmart  . I walked past the markdown rack and saw an American flag with a sign that said Reduced To Clear. How soon we forget  :(
